Guttersnipes and pinstripe parasites, English nihilist poetry

This solitary world is crippling
Slowly killing me
God is a non-entity

Looking for comraderie
A false euphoria
In a pub where the stupid sleep
Petty thieves merely doze
Stalking the comatose sheep
Like hyenas sniffing carcasses
In the bottom of dirty beer glasses

On the streets the tramps
Drinking their ciders and lagers
Cautiously express opinions
In measured monotone
All love and magic has fled
Beneath their tragic matted brows
Their eyes prematurely dead
Terrified lest they appear intelligent
Bitterly nostalgic sick and wounded
Spirits sunken in drunken lament

For the successful existence is stressful
Always needing someone to look down upon
To frown and pour scorn in one-upmanship
To sense dirt forlorn on their shoes
Circling you like jackals
Picking at your brain
These vain cattle
Finding solace in caricature
Gourmets of malicious nomenclature

We're a sham all of us
A mass of hypocrites
Self-destructing detritus
Free to wear a robotnik's disguise
To despise and be despised
At liberty in animalistic humanity
Self-determining choice's chore
Nature's ritualistic cannibalistic
All-consuming whore
