By the river I reverie into our past
Become conscious of the stream of time
The blue with tufts of white dust
Quietly subdues to beautiful hues
Of purple-pink clouds
Fish flit gently in the water
As if accustomed to my presence now
Bird songs mark my moments
More tangibly than the slow-motion sunset
The water babbles ambiently
The whole scene is enframed
By an archway of two entwined trees
I think about their togetherness
How in imperceptible movements those
Ageless beasts of slumbering lumber
Arose to caress each other's branches
Are the trees in love as we once were,
Tuned in to some biological algorithm?
I think about you then, idyllic for me
As this scene, sublime
I loved you like infinity
I recall waking holding hands
I imagine dipping into the brook
Of time's one-way clock
Bringing you back through the vortex to here and now
To sit together in silent serenity
To passively enjoy this scene
To hold you tenderly
For you to look upon my face
With its extra lines
Your gaze returning to the lavender stratosphere
We watch the day's sweet surrender to night
You perceive this older I
Who hopes you know, the you then
Will be loved eternally
I wish for you to perceive
The significance in the picture's frame
The entangled branch archway
I want to hold this sense of peace
To keep it sacred forever
This reconciliation with my memories
The stars come out to play
And crickets tick-tock our moments away
I want to reach into the unfathomable
I want to touch your soul
I forlornly hope you care,
That I can feel you close
Even though you are not here,
In my perfect world, you are there
The whole planet spins for us
Me, my memory, and . . .
I can feel your essence right here beside
As you were in my heart
My wish, wherever and whoever you are now
That you can feel this present too
To know the better part of me who loved you
Transcends the bitter distance of time
My mind outstretched across the void
Exists in this moment
Loving you, with the stillness of a tree
As you were, you will always be
Never growing old
Forever beautiful
Magical maiden
